Chelsea winger Eden Hazard is set to agree to a new £300,000-a-week Chelsea contract, according to reports.
The deal will come as a blow to long-term admirers Real Madrid – and also see the Belgium star eclipse Paul Pogba’s £290,000-a-week pay package to become the Premier League’s top earner.
The Belgian was keen on leaving Chelsea in the summer and made it clear that he wanted to join La Liga giants Real Madrid following his performances for Belgium at the World Cup.
The 28-year-old admitted recently that he ‘dreams’ of moving to the Bernabeu but wouldn’t follow the lead of Thibaut Courtois in forcing an exit from the Blues.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Hazard is close to committing his future to the Blues by penning fresh terms with the West Londoners.
Any deal would represent a huge coup for Chelsea, who at one stage looked unlikely to be able to keep Hazard at the club past the end of the season.
Hazard has scored a total of 97 goals in 310 outings for Chelsea since joining the club in 2012.
