FC Barcelona captain and Argentine Superstar Lionel Messi wants FC Barcelona to sell their French defender Ousmane Dembele to pave the way for Paul Pogba’s arrival to FC Barcelona, reports Don Balon. The midfielder, who currently plies his trade for Manchester United, was a part of the World Cup winning French squad where he played a crucial role and commanded the game from the middle of the park along with Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.
In the recently closed summer transfer window, Paul Pogba, who reportedly has a strained relationship with club coach Jose Mourinho, was rumoured to leave Manchester United and join FC Barcelona. Apart from the Catalans, his former employers, Juventus, were also interested in signing him.
Whereas, Ousmane Dembele joined FC Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund last season. He was touted to be a straightforward replacement for Neymar Jr, who left Barcelona to join PSG. However, injuries ravaged his first season at FC Barcelona as he had to spend months to recover.
In the summer transfer window, he was slated to leave the club with English Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Sent Germain emerging as his potential suitors. But, a deal did not go through. However, this season, he has started well for the defending La Liga champions and has already scored 5 goals for them from 6 matches, including a stunner against AS Roma in their recent clash.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the club would hear Lionel Messi’s words and sell the Frenchman, who is widely considered as a potential Ballon d’Or winner in the near future. If La Liga giants indeed decide to sell him, he will not be short of suitors though. It is also rumoured that Manchester United are also interested in signing Dembele.

If Messi has indeed said so, the Catalan giants would likely stand with their club captain. In the summer transfer window, the club desperately tried to sign players to fill the big void left by Andres Iniesta. Signing Pogba from Manchester United will help the Camp Nou side find the ideal candidate to fill in the big boots of Iniesta.
