Ed Woodward insists Manchester United will remain competitive at the top end of the transfer market.
United were heavily linked with a number of world class players during the summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho was desperate to improve in key areas of the pitch, but Fred was the only noticeable name to arrive.
It left the special one fuming and he even admitted that it will be a tough season for the Red Devils, as the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all improved their squads.

But United revealed a record revenue of £590million for the fourth quarter in their latest financial results and Woodward hinted the club’s embattled manager can expect significant funds when the transfer window reopens in January.
‘Everyone at the club is working tirelessly to add to Manchester United’s 66 and Jose’s 25 trophies,’ Woodward said on the Sky Sports website.
‘That is what our passionate fans and our history demands.
‘We are committed to our philosophy of blending top academy graduates with world-class players and are proud that, once again, last season we had more academy graduate minutes on the pitch than any other Premier League club.
‘Our increased revenue expectation for the year demonstrates our continued strong long-term financial performance which underpins everything we do and allows us to compete for top talent in an increasingly competitive transfer market.’
Here is what we think.
Spending money in January may be too late for United to claim a big trophy as they could be out the running in the Premier League chase by then and even may crash out the Champions League.
So maybe the best thing to do is save their money and go big next summer?
