THE CATALANS HAVE SIGNED FOUR NEW PLAYERS IN THE ONGOING TRANSFER WINDOW BUT ACCORDING TO LEO MESSI AND THE CLUB ADMINISTRATION, THEY STILL NEED ANOTHER SIGNING TO SUCCEED IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
With less than 48 hours left in the Spanish transfer window, Barcelona is keen to negotiate with PSG for one last time regarding the transfer of Adrien Rabiot. According to the recent reports, Barcelona captain, Messi would be happy to see the club signing another central midfielder.
RABIOT OR POGBA?
The La Liga champions have already signed Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal in this transfer window and boast a jam-packed midfield for the season. But Don Balon reported that Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu wants to negotiate with the French club one more time to convince them into selling Rabiot. The French midfielder has been linked with Barcelona for almost a month now, but PSG does not intend to sell the player.
Despite their interest in Rabiot, the Camp Nou outfit has not forgotten about Manchester United star, Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is reportedly unhappy at the Old Trafford and Barcelona will look to take advantage of that situation in the last 48 hours.
The Catalans have failed to win the Champions League since 2015, with three consecutive quarter-final exits. And both club administration and players, led by Leo Messi are keen to bring the European glory back to Barcelona. The club believes that Messi will be happy with the addition of another central midfielder in order to achieve glory in Europe.
With the transfer window closing on 31st August, Barcelona will have to act quickly to have any chance of signing Rabiot or Pogba. The World Cup winner’s transfer looks more difficult as the transfer window in England has closed a long time ago.
Barcelona will face newly promoted Huesca on Sunday as they look to continue their winning momentum.
AUTHOR’S TAKE:
It is really difficult to understand Barcelona’s interest in Rabiot and Pogba despite boasting some of the finest midfielders in the squad. The transfer of Pogba looks almost impossible at this stage and given PSG’s stubbornness, something miraculous will have to happen for Barcelona to sign Rabiot in the last 48 hours. The Catalans should instead focus on the team they have at their disposal and work with it.
