Maurizio Sarri is now Chelsea latest Italian gaffer at the rein of the club, following previous appointments of Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Di Matteo and Antonio Conte.
Sarri has already bring a familiar face to the already brilliant team he has inherited in Chelsea, signing Jorginho from his former club, though that is unlikely to be his only piece of business before the transfer window gets shut this summer.
According new reports, the Premier League club are ready to raid Serie A for a second time this summer, with Chelsea said to be lining up a whooping £115m bid for Lazio’s and Serbian international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic that’s likely to spell end of Cesc Fabregas’ stint with the club.
Savic who was impressive for Serbia at the just concluded World Cup in Russia, enjoyed a couple of brilliant seasons with Lazio, establishing himself as one of the best young attacking midfielders across Europe.
The midfielder will be a wise move for Chelsea and would thrive in Sarri’s 4-3-3 playing system. Savic, playing as part of a midfield three with Lazio, has been in involved in 27 goals since the last two seasons with Lazio, netting 16 goals and creating 11 assists.
To put things in context, the vastly more experienced Fabregas has weighed in with seven goals and 15 assists in the Premier League during the same period, whilst the Serbian showed back in 2016/17 just what a positive impact he can have upon his team’s results:
A long-time target for Manchester United, the fact that the 23-year-old is represented by former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, a man who enjoyed his short spell at Stamford Bridge, has to count in the Blues’ favour should the two clubs go head-to-head.
